Freshly back in Sydney after a three-week jaunt to Italy, reports say that a 32-year old woman will not stop saying the word “ciao” to friends, family members, and at times, even retail staff.

“It’s becoming a problem”, Alisha, the woman’s best friend, tells The Chaser. “She wasn’t there for that long, and I don’t think she knows any other Italian.”

Our fact-checking team found that claim to be untrue, however, noting several of the woman’s Instagram posts from her time in the Mediterranean country included Italian-language captions, for example, “La Dolce Vita” and “Firenze”.

At press time, Clare was found accosting a waitress in Edgecliff for an Aperol Spritz, despite the item being absent from the menu. Onlookers say the woman could be heard remarking that she was just in Italy.
